The Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang showed his worth at Arsenal’s game against Norwich City on Wednesday night. He also beat Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, in the goal timeline.

Aubameyang was able to obtain his 50 Premier League goal in his 75 appearances against Norwich. However, it took Henry 83 appearances to get that many goals.

In the 33 minute, Aubameyang was able to score his 21 goal of the season by slotting the ball in an empty net. He was then able to assist Granit Xhaka. Then Cedric Soares got the assist from Aubameyang to get his first goal with Arsenal. Aubameyang scored one last goal to finish the game 4-0.

Arsenal’s investment in Aubameyang has seemed to pay off. In 2018, they made a £56 million deal with Borussia Dortmund for him.

He has shown his worth on the field but also off of it. His team spirit has continued to separate him from the pack.

“[I am] really proud, really proud,” Aubameyang told Sky Sport after the Norwich match.

“First of all, I am proud of the team. Think we deserved the win, we did a great job. Everyone worked really well, really happy and proud.

“I think I’m really happy today, my performance was good. I’m always happy to score goals and help this team to win.”

Aubameyang’s contract is set to expire by the end of the year. People have been speculating his next big move. There have been links to Inter Milan and Barcelona FC keeping an eye on him.

It was announced today before the match that Arsenal player, Bukayo Saka, is set to continue playing at Arsenal for another four years. This led to hints from manager Mikel Arteta that Aubameyang may stay at Arsenal.

Especially after today’s game, it is safe to say that Aubameyang has shown his worth as a player. So there would be no surprise if Arsenal decides to keep him.
